How To Cite A Movie

You should always cite a movie because you are paraphrasing someone else's work. You can cite a movie to make a great research paper. Most movies are cited in MLA style today. There are different ways to cite a movie. It depends on how you viewed the movie you are citing. For example, in a movie theatre, on DVD, internet, or wherever you viewed the movie. Here are step by step instructions on citing a movie you viewed on DVD and on the internet.

How to cite a movie on DVD:
Step 1. Write the title of the movie, it has to be underlined.
Step 2. Write the name of the director or producer with the last name first.
Step 3. Write the name of any other important people who helped make the movie.
Step 4. Write the name of the actors and actresses in the movie.
Step 5.Write the format of the DVD you are viewing.
Step 6. Write the name of the DVD distributor.
Step 7. Write the DVD distribution date

How to cite a movie on the internet:
Step 1. Write the author's name.- last name first.
Step 2. Write the name of the title or the document file.
Step 3. Write the date of the document or the date of the documents
last revision.
Step 4. Write down the medium of the online media.
Step 5. Write the title of the web site that the movie clip is located on.
Step 6. Write the access date.
Step 7. Write the web address ( URL).

Always make sure you are consistent in your format throughout your entire writing.
